João Neves was among the surprise faces at Estádio da Luz as Benfica beat Vitória SC, delighting a packed home crowd.

Rested by PSG for their meeting with Nice on the same day, the number 87 is again managing an injury and is understood to have flown to Lisbon to sample the Inferno da Luz once more. Record captured images of the PSG midfielder in the stands with his partner, Madalena Aragão.

Photos shared showed him watching from a box alongside Benfica defender António Silva, who was suspended. His visit appears to have gone largely unnoticed inside the ground, surfacing only after reports began to circulate.

He was not the only familiar face. Julian Weigl posted on social media that he had also attended the win over Vitória de Guimarães, and he was greeted by Fredrik Aursnes.

After a hard-fought result in Arouca in the previous round, Benfica collected three points more comfortably back in Lisbon. With 27 Liga Portugal Betclic games played, they sit second, provisionally, on 65 points, awaiting a slip from both Porto and Sporting.
