Rangers are tracking Leeds United forward Joe Gelhardt after his loan form at Hull City, according to Alan Nixon.
Both Leeds and Rangers sit under the 49ers Enterprises umbrella, with Paraag Marathe involved at board level, offering a plausible route for a move, whether temporary or permanent.
Daniel Farke has used Gelhardt sparingly, handing only 207 minutes across the last two seasons, including 10 before his latest loan. His Leeds record is 47 appearances, 1,165 minutes and two goals, despite strong training-ground reviews from team-mates such as Patrick Bamford.
Loans have provided the platform, first at Sunderland, then at Hull. This season he has 13 goals and four assists in 33 appearances and has topped 2,400 minutes, returning 0.49 goals per 90. His energetic pressing and appetite for physical contests have fitted the Championship.
Across his Hull spells he has 18 goals in 52 games. Hull would like to retain him, though the finances could be challenging. For Leeds, a player seldom used is delivering elsewhere while Rangers watch, and a decision now awaits.
