Fenerbahce are reportedly edging closer to signing Manchester United-linked striker Jonathan David, with personal terms nearly done.

United are on the hunt for a striker after a toothless 2024/25 season in which the club finished a lowly 15th place and with a humiliating -10 goal difference.

There have been suggestions that primary striker Rasmus Hojlund is on his way out of Old Trafford, amidst heavy interest from Serie A giants Inter Milan. Hojlund’s exit will only accelerate United’s push for a new talisman.

After missing out on top target Liam Delap, who chose a move to Chelsea, United have shifted focus to alternatives, with David reportedly among the names on their radar.

David has been linked with United several times throughout his career, but a move has never come to fruition. However, with the striker now available as a free agent, a deal could finally be within reach.

The 24-year-old’s rise to prominence at Lille has been incredible. Since he joined the Ligue 1 outfit from Gent in 2020, he has been one of the most consistent finishers in Europe. David has notched 109 goals in 231 appearances. This tally includes the 25 goals he netted in 49 games during the 2024/25 campaign.

He has drawn interest from European heavyweights like Arsenal, Barcelona, Napoli, Juventus, Inter Milan and of course United.

A report covered by The Peoples Person revealed that David’s heart is set on a switch to the Premier League.

However, it appears Turkey is set to be his next destination, if new information relayed by Fanatik is anything to go by.

According to Fanatik, Fenerbahce are edging closer to a deal for David, with the key elements of the offer already agreed upon.

“Fenerbahçe offered Jonathan David a 9 million Euro annual guarantee and a 12 million Euro signing fee in return for a 3-year contract.”

“A large measure of agreement was reached between the parties.”

It remains to be seen whether this latest development will prompt United to make a move or if the Red Devils will shift their focus to other targets.
