After much anticipation, Everton's Number 1 has signed a new 4-year contract that runs through June 2029, potentially extending his Everton residency to 12 years.

After once again committing his long-term future to Everton, Pickford says his sights are set on helping the club's bid to return to European competition.

"I'm delighted," he told Everton TV. "Delighted to get it done – it's an extra 2 years, so 4 years in total. I'm over the moon and it gives me the opportunity to build a legacy for myself here, move forward and build this club to where we want to be.

"Everton is a really special club to me. Coming from Sunderland as a young lad and growing into a man here, it's been a special time for me and my family.

"I think everyone's seen the changes and how I've developed over time, but I'm still that lad who loves to keep the ball out of the net. It's been Everton who have helped me develop and a lot of hard work's been put in as well.

"It's always felt like a natural fit for me, with the fans and the passion – it's second to none and something I thrive off.

"It's been a mega journey so far. I think the dark days are behind us and it's about building that momentum as a team and the club now, I think it's the whole deal, really.

"The new owners have come in and have shown they want to move us forward, the manager since he has come in has shown that, too, and us as players on the pitch.

"The manager wanted us to continue our form [from the end of last season] into this one and he'll keep pushing us.

"We've started well and we want to keep building that momentum and get Everton Football Club back to a team that competes in Europe. We know it's tough to do but it's a journey we want to go on and it's hard work that we'll put in as a club.

"We want to have that direction and, hopefully, one day we'll lift some silverware as well."

Great shot stopper and very alert. I just wish he would deal with corners and crosses better.

Also see that the Manc media have gone into overdrive suggesting that they will get Garner back on a free next season.

Let's get his new contract signed and shut these snakes up once and for all.

Wow, some fantastic positive news!

They've only been talking about it for the last 3 months!!! Perhaps they gave him Calvert-Lewin's contract by mistake! And with Sunderland snapping at our heels, just behind us in the Permier League table [Finally updated, please note!] musta been a tough one

It's finally done. He seems to be getting better and better, less immature, less prone to brainfarts. Let's hope he keeps it going for the next 4 years.

Jay, Everton have a 1 year option on him, so he will be going nowhere on a free this summer.

He's been consistently one of our top two performers for a number of seasons with his crucial saves earnings us points from draws and victories when defeat looked likely.

Its great to see his loyalty and love for this club. Top player!

Bobby, you must be confused.

None of my digs are 'sly'. They're all out there in plain sight. Sharp and incisive.

Pickford has been superb for the last few seasons and deserves his new contract, the so called pundits, Murphy and Dixon couldn't even praise him for being England no.1 for a long time now, having been written off more times over the years, just biased bitterness.

You come across like a 6 year old Michael K

Bobby Mallon 10 Posted 16/10/2025 at 21:45:05

No sly

Happy to see this tied up, he can start repaying his long term security by keeping another clean sheet on Saturday !

Agree with Jay @ 1, maybe asking/wishing for too much to see him better handling corners and crosses. Not a dig, but he is a bit shorter than most Goalkeepers !

He's proven to be Everton's number one asset after some dissed him in his early days.

Certainly the best in the Prem. in my opinion.

A clean sheet against City would be a fitting reward for his new contract commitment.

Realistically it's a big ask with Haaland bang in form but if the defense can put in a big show and frustrate them early then who knows what we can get out of this game.

We have some talent ourselves now and if he likes of Dibling (if he starts) and KDH put in a good shift they could surprise City. Would have preferred Branthwaite to have been ready though.

Doku on the wing could be a problem for Big Jake.

Perhaps I have an old fashioned view on life and work, but loyalty and performance should be recognised. As important is that an employee should feel valued and be happy. Its not all about trophy hunting although Pickford deserves at least one in his career. Whatever view you take of his abilities you can not ever question his commitment and attitude. Not quite Big Nev but great to see him happy to most likely see out his career with Everton.

IMO Pickford has been brilliant for us. Icing on the cake is he “gets us.” Swapped working class NE for NW. Loves the club, loves the community, he has a funny accent by he fits right in. He’s gonna leave big shoes to fill once he moves on.

How he ranks with the past greats? I don’t know. I only knew Nev in his portly days late 80s onwards at which time I personally rated Seaman and Schmeichel higher but I’ll defer to the wisdom of my elders. Needless to say West was way before my time. So I’ll leave those debates of the greatest ever to the Bobby Mimmsphiles and others but Southall, Martyn, Howard and Pickford all brilliant from my point of view.

Pickford had evolved after a bad run after the crossbar bounce late goal mistake against Liverpool. He's come back more mature and steady. We would be playing in the Champioship if it's not him for the last few seasons. Looking at ManU their GK saga, I'm pleased to tie down Pickford for long term.

Tom # 12 - "after some dissed him in his early days.". I was one of them but not anymore.

He is crackers but that appeals to me and he is definitely True Blue. Good news.

Rob Dolby 19 Posted 17/10/2025 at 08:28:43

A fantastic bit of business by the club. He has already saved us points this season.

We would be in the Championship without him.

Did anyone see the list of keepers for the Balon’Dor or whatever it’s called, Pickfords name wasn’t there amongst a whole host of average goalkeepers, despite his International record, not to mention his EPL record over the last couple of seasons.

More proof of negative bias against EFC.

Happy and proud he’s stuck with us and not thought about ditching us for personal glory, which I’m sure he could have done ,

before anybody starts bleating “where are the bids?”
