José Mourinho says there have been contacts with Real Madrid about his future | OneFootball

José Mourinho says his agent has been in contact with Real Madrid as speculation grows over his future at Benfica, speaking after a win at Estoril on the final day of the Portuguese league.

He said the only offer on the table is a Benfica renewal he has not yet seen, which Jorge Mendes has described as very attractive. Mourinho added he has had no direct contact with Florentino Pérez or any member of the Madrid board.

He said there are contacts between the club and Mendes and that he expects direct talks with Madrid next week, when he plans to decide his future and Benfica’s, which he called his priority.

As reports that Madrid have a verbal agreement with Mourinho, with an announcement to follow after the club’s electoral process initiated by Pérez.

Marca also claims his return to the bench is scarcely in doubt and says Arbeloa regards his spell in charge as over and backs Mourinho’s comeback.

Mourinho had previously denied any contact with Madrid despite persistent rumours of a summer return. If confirmed, the 63-year-old would be rejoining a club he led from 2010 to 2013, winning the 2012 league title.
