New Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho has made his feelings known regarding the club’s alleged interest in Manchester City star Rodri.

This comes amid the understanding that the Portuguese wants the World Cup winner at his disposal for next season.

The name of midfielder Rodri has of course emerged front and centre in the media headlines surrounding Real Madrid across the week to date.

Fresh off being named the standout player at this summer’s World Cup, the 30-year-old has again been tipped to take his talents to the Santiago Bernabéu.

Rodri’s contract terms in Manchester are due to expire in 12 months’ time, with several leading figures behind the scenes in Spain’s capital understood to be desperate to bring the Ballon d’Or winner back to his home country.

And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then José Mourinho is in full agreement with those of the opinion that Rodri would be a stellar addition to his squad.

Speaking during an appearance on Radio MARCA this week, journalist Roberto Gómez confirmed:

“Rodri is an explicit request from José Mourinho. Mourinho wants Rodri at all costs. He has told the Real Madrid president that he wants, undoubtedly, Rodri.”
