José Neto’s season is over after the Benfica defender fractured his right wrist, ruling him out of first team, B team and youth sides for the run-in, starting with Braga.
Record reports that the 18-year-old, Benfica’s No 62, suffered the injury in training on the eve of facing Braga and, after tests, will not be considered by José Mourinho or Nélson Veríssimo for the remaining fixtures.
He will now focus on rehabilitation and is expected to be fully fit for the start of next season.
Neto is under contract until the summer of 2031 and is considered one of Seixal’s most promising prospects.
This season he has made 31 competitive appearances across the first team, B team, under-23s and under-19s, totalling 2,141 minutes. He has one goal and four assists and is valued at €3 million.
