He insists that the forward remains Roma’s “number one target” and that “even on the day of Ruben Amorim’s dismissal, sporting director Frederic Massara maintained contact with the Dutch striker. The player and Roma already have a full agreement, the negotiations are well-defined and there are no particular personal obstacles.”

What’s more, the “only real sticking point” is United giving the green light to the deal, but Roma remain “confident” as Zirkzee has “given his priority” to the side from the Italian capital.
