Liverpool Ready Bradley Barcola Bid as Iraola Shapes New-Look Attack

Liverpool are moving towards a serious attempt to sign Bradley Barcola, and the key point here is simple, this is no speculative link. As first reported by Dominic King for The Telegraph, the club have held encouraging talks with the Paris Saint-Germain winger’s representatives and are now preparing an opening offer.

The structure matters. PSG value the package at up to €150 million, with €20 million in add-ons linked to league success and another €20 million tied to Champions League performance. That is elite-player money, and Liverpool would not be advancing unless they believed there was a realistic chance of getting the deal moving.

Barcola has become one of the priority names for Andoni Iraola as he looks to reshape Liverpool’s forward line before the season starts. The logic is obvious. Mohamed Salah’s exit has left a major hole in the attack, and Liverpool need pace, one-versus-one threat and production from wide areas. Barcola fits that description better than most.

Barcola Transfer Signals Look Encouraging

The French international has two years left on his PSG contract and is reported to have turned down an extension after falling in the pecking order under Luis Enrique. That changes the dynamic. PSG still hold a strong position, but a player resisting renewal always creates pressure, particularly when the buying club know the player is open to the move.

Liverpool were linked before, when a deal in the region of £70 million was discussed last summer, but stepped back. This time the circumstances are different, the need is greater and Iraola’s system demands direct, relentless wide players.

Iraola Wants Attack and Defensive Depth

This is also part of a broader rebuild. Liverpool have already added Víctor Munoz and Jeremy Jacquet, with the latter arriving from Rennes for an initial £55 million. Even so, recruitment is clearly not finished. The club are still hunting for further additions in attack and defence, and there is particular concern around defensive depth ahead of the new campaign.

As for Barcola, the attraction is straightforward. He is 23, high ceiling, Champions League level, and potentially available. Expensive, yes. But if Liverpool believe he can become one of the reference points in Iraola’s frontline, then the price starts to make more sense.

Our View

From a supporter’s perspective, this is exactly the sort of move that feels ambitious and necessary. If Salah has gone, Liverpool cannot pretend that replacing his output will be solved with a cheap gamble or a short-term patch. Barcola would be a statement signing, the kind that tells the rest of the league Liverpool still mean business.

There is obvious risk in any deal at €150 million, especially for a player who is still developing into a true superstar. But there is also a point where Liverpool have to back the new head coach properly. Iraola needs players who can run, press, carry the ball and frighten defenders. Barcola looks built for that.

The encouraging part is that this does not sound like agent noise. Talks have happened, the player appears open to the Premier League, and Liverpool seem ready to act. That is what fans want to hear after a difficult 2025-26 campaign and a managerial change.

There is still work to do in defence as well, and nobody should ignore that. But in pure emotional terms, a top-class winger arriving from PSG would lift the mood immediately. Supporters want a team that feels fast, aggressive and ready to compete again. Barcola could be a big part of that reset.
