Juan Pablo Vojvoda has agreed to join Racing, marking a return to Argentine football.

According to Diario Do Peixe, the 51-year-old has been chosen to replace Gustavo Costas, dismissed in May after a Copa Sudamericana group-stage exit.

Vojvoda spent a lengthy spell in Brazil, leading Fortaleza from 2021 to 2025. He then took charge of Santos in August 2025 and stayed until March 2026.

At Santos he oversaw 34 matches, recording 10 wins, 14 draws and 10 defeats, a 42% return. Inconsistent results and mounting fan pressure weighed on his tenure.

His dismissal was confirmed in the early hours of 19 March 2026, shortly after a 2-1 home loss to Internacional at Vila Belmiro in the seventh round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. The decisive goal came in stoppage time, with protests aimed at the coach and team.

President Marcelo Teixeira and executive Alexandre Mattos opted for a change. Vojvoda left without a press conference and his departure was announced within hours.

He now starts a new chapter at Racing, one of the country’s leading clubs. Before his Brazilian stint he managed Defensa y Justicia, Huracán and Talleres in Argentina, and Unión La Calera in Chile.
