Jude Bellingham could face Fifa action after a post-match confrontation with Argentina’s Valentin Barco following England’s World Cup semi-final defeat.
The Real Madrid midfielder, from Stourbridge, appeared to slap Barco on the back of the head at full time, sparking pushing between players. He confronted the Strasbourg defender as Argentina celebrated reaching a second consecutive World Cup final, before team-mates led him away as Nicolas Otamendi and others stepped in.
The incident was shown on the main television feed and filmed by supporters in the ground, which may prompt Fifa to intervene.
"We were discussing a foul actually, but it was nothing bad at all," he said. "I'm sure everyone will do their thing and make it a big deal but no, it was nothing big really." He told TalkSport.
"I thought it was a foul earlier and he said 'what about the one on me?' and I was just saying, 'you're strong enough to take them'. It's a privilege to play against him, it was nothing like that against him. "Obviously I'm on the losing side, it hurts a lot but it a privilege to play against one of the best."
