Salah will this summer call time on nine trophy-laden seasons at Anfield, during which time he has won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup and two League Cups, as well as an FA Community Shield.

Liverpool now face the unenviable task of replacing a player who has scored over 250 goals from the wing.

RB Leipzig teenager Yan Diomande has been tipped by many as the key transfer target for Reds head coach Arne Slot this summer.

A meeting has reportedly already taken place between Liverpool and Diomande's agents, but former Reds manager Klopp many have other ideas.

In December 2023, Klopp called the West Ham star "probably my favourite player besides my players", adding: "It's just great what he's doing and how he develops."

It was not the first time Klopp has praised Bowen.

Speaking in November 2021, Klopp said: "I like Bowen a lot. He made his way up from Hull (City) and took not too long to get there, to show exactly what kind of player he can be in the Premier League as well."

Klopp's praise has been echoed by Michael Owen, who told talkSPORT of Bowen: "I have said that to a couple of my mates the other day. I said, if I had one player.

"Now, obviously, Jarrod Bowen’s a legend of a player, West Ham, you know, adore the man, and rightly so. But, if West Ham went down, he would fit for me. I think he’s absolutely brilliant.

"I was lucky enough to do like a striking masterclass for a TV show we did last season with him, and I couldn’t believe it. Honestly, left foot, right foot, bang, bang, corners, pace. I mean, a real top finisher."

Owen added: "I think he’s a brilliant player. I would be taking him to the World Cup, and, as I say, you know, I don’t want to upset West Ham fans, but if they went down, then he would be my idea of somebody to replace Salah."
