Arsenal host Sunderland at the Emirates Stadium later today, and manager Mikel Arteta has received a much-needed boost.
Defender Jurrien Timber was with the rest of the first team on their pre-match walk this morning, according to Arsenal insider Connor Humm.
While that does not mean that Timber is in the matchday squad to face the Black Cats, Arteta confirmed yesterday that he will be available for selection despite missing training on Thursday.
However, Arsenal will be without Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz for the game, while Mikel Merino is a long-term injury absentee.
The club will be desperate to pick up all three points today and further consolidate their position at the top of the Premier League table.
Victory over Sunderland would put them nine points ahead of Manchester City, who play Liverpool tomorrow.
However, their lead over Aston Villa could remain seven points if they win at Bournemouth.
Arsenal will fancy their chances against Sunderland despite the injury absences, but having Timber available is a much-needed boost.
Today’s visitors could prove to be a tough nut to crack given their recent form, and the Gunners will need to be on top of their game to ensure victory.
A win for Arsenal will put pressure on Man City, as they cannot afford to drop points tomorrow to keep their title chances alive.
