Manchester United have reportedly submitted a bid for RB Leipzig teenager Yan Diomande, who is one of their main summer targets.
The Premier League giants are already laying the groundwork for what should be an eventful transfer campaign.

The Red Devils are expected to sign multiple midfielders, but recruiting a right-footed left winger is also on the agenda for technical director Jason Wilcox.
In recent months, Diomande has emerged as Man Utd’s favourite target for the wing role. The ‘unstoppable’ 19-year-old has cemented himself as one of the best revelations of the Bundesliga campaign after making the summer move from Leganes to Leipzig.
Fabrizio Romano revealed last month that MUFC sent their scouts to watch Diomande in action against Augsburg. The winger certainly earned high grades on the report cards, given how the Old Trafford outfit remains hot on his heels.
Moreover, reliable German journalist Christian Falk confirmed that Bayern Munich decided to pull out of the race for Diomande’s signature, not because of his lack of quality, but due to the high costs of the operation, with Leipzig seeking at least €100 million (£87m) to part ways with their prized asset.
Bayern’s stance could open the door for a Premier League move, with United and Liverpool apparently leading the cash pack.
But according to a popular news outlet on X, Man Utd moved ahead of their rivals by submitting a bid for the Ivorian teenager.
“Good sources are stating that Manchester United have submitted a bid for Yan Diomande,” reads the post.
Following Michael Carrick’s appointment, MUFC immediately distanced themselves from Ruben Amorim’s much-maligned 3-4-2-1 formation, reverting to a more conventional 4-2-3-1 system.
While this change has suited the majority of the squad, the interim head coach has been uncertain about the left-winger role.
He initially entrusted Patrick Dorgu with the role, before relying on other players following the latter’s injury. Matheus Cunha is currently the main option, but he’s not considered a traditional winger, as he looks more dangerous operating in a central role.
On the other hand, Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbuemo are left-footed (like Dorgu), so they can be more devastating when acting like inverted wingers cutting from the right flank.
Therefore, an explosive right-footed winger like Diomande could be the missing piece in Man Utd’s attacking jigsaw. And based on his early-career exploits, the sky is the limit for the 19-year-old.
Manchester United’s head of recruitment, Christopher Vivell, had a long-term collaboration with the Red Bull group, so his presence could facilitate negotiations between the two parties, as was the case with Benjamin Sesko.
