Just in: Mbappe absent from training, a serious doubt for Real Madrid vs Manchester City | OneFootball

In a rather concerning development, Mario Cortegana reports that Real Madrid megastar Kylian Mbappe is not in training with the team ahead of their game against Manchester City.

This comes from journalist Jose Luis Sanchez on El Chiringuito TV, who reports that the French forward is now a major doubt for the UEFA Champions League clash against the Premier League giants on Wednesday.

Mbappe, as reported on Monday, has a fractured finger. But it was expected that he would still play against Pep Guardiola’s team tomorrow.

However, it appears that the 26-year-old attacker is carrying some discomfort, which kept him out of training today.

Now, there is a good chance that Real Madrid will go into tomorrow’s game against Manchester City without their top goalscorer this season.

Real Madrid have been heavily reliant on Mbappe for goals in attack, with the forward having scored more than half of the team’s total tally this season.

If he becomes unavailable, it will come as a huge blow for Xabi Alonso, whose job is on the line heading into the Champions League clash.

Also missing from the training was Eduardo Camavinga, with he too expected to miss the game, along with Dean Huijsen, David Alaba, Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy, and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

If Mbappe also gets ruled out, Real Madrid would end up going into the match vs Manchester City with as many as eight players unavailable for selection – a situation that is far from ideal.
