Bernardo Silva has more than hinted that he’d depart Manchester City at the end of his expiring contract, and Juventus and Milan will be among the teams vying to sign him as a free agent.
The midfielder spoke to the press after the recent Champions League game versus Bayer Leverkusen (via Tribal Football).
“I’ve always dreamed of winning titles, but I never imagined I’d win six Premier League titles in eight years. I have big ambitions and want to continue at the highest level. Then, further down the line, without making any long-term plans, I’m focused on my final season here. I want to finish on a high note, try to win more with the club that has given me so much.”
According to Calciomercato, Juventus and Milan have been in touch with the entourage of Bernardo Silva since his exit chatter began percolating. The playmaker has ruled out heading to Saudi Arabia and wishes to stay in Europe.
He hasn’t shut the door to a possible move to Serie A, but it won’t be easy for the two giants to emerge victorious. He pockets €10M net at Manchester City. He’d have to accept a much lower salary to move to the Peninsula. Kevin De Bruyne and Luka Modric agreed to do so last summer.
Being only 31, he’s not on his last legs like the other two veterans, who have been outstanding, but such a fact works against the Italian suitors, as it might lead to understandably robust economic demands, making him an improbable target. Any team could use a technical leader of this caliber, especially the Bianconeri, which are severely lacking in that department.
