Despite spending a few days in Istanbul and coming to terms with Fenerbahce, Juventus didn’t land Youssef En-Nesyri. The player raised concerns about moving on loan and is being courted by other sides, La Gazzetta dello Sport relays.

The Bianconeri had ironed out a €27M package, including wages, add-ons, and the option to buy. The striker decided to bide, time. Sevilla, where he had his best seasons, and Everton started to show interest. Director Giorgio Chiellini told Sky that the talks were over for them at this stage.

Juventus eyed En-Nesyri to add a physical striker to their frontline, as they lost Dusan Vlahovic for a few months, and he’s likely gone in the summer. They struck out for Jean-Philippe Mateta because of Crystal Palace’s demands.

The Old Lady didn’t sign the Moroccan international despite some help from Fenerbahce, which pushed to conclude the deal. Their management will regroup and assess other options. They might target Joshua Zirkzee and Norberto Beto and reopen the contacts with the Eagles and Federico Chiesa. They had paused their pursuit because Liverpool were adamant about a permanent deal too.

Our Take on Juventus and En-Nesyri

It’s tough to convince players of a certain caliber to transfer temporarily. They are trying to have it both ways, as they want an immediate reinforcement but also keep their hands free for the summer, when they’ll have more ammo. It’s not a great look to miss out after making the trip, but it doesn’t hurt that Jonathan David has finally gotten going, reducing some of the pressure. They should go for somebody who’d have better chances of being part of their future squad and not just a band-aid.
