Juventus ‘could offer’ talent in move for Sunderland and Nottingham Forest target Jhon Lucumi | OneFootball

Juventus are exploring a move for Bologna centre-back Jhon Lucumi, who has been linked with Sunderland and Nottingham Forest. According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Serie A giants could offer a promising youngster in part-exchange to reduce the fee.

Sunderland are closing in on their first summer signing after Belgium international Thomas Meunier arrived on Wearside for a medical to strengthen their defence. Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth have also been linked with Lucumi.

The Black Cats first assessed the Colombia international 12 months ago as Regis Le Bris’ side prepared for a Premier League return, before switching to a successful deal for Getafe defender Omar Alderete.

Speculation has persisted that Lucumi remains on Sunderland’s list and another approach could follow as the 28-year-old enters the final 12 months of his contract. He made 43 appearances in all competitions for Bologna last season.

The former Genk defender featured in all five of Colombia’s matches at the World Cup finals, reaching the round of 16 before losing on penalties to Granit Xhaka’s Switzerland. He is now set to return to Bologna to prepare for the new Serie A campaign.
