Liverpool goalkeeper Giorgio Mamardashvili is now subject to interest from Juventus after they failed to prise Alisson Becker from Anfield, according to journalist Gianluigi Longari.

The Merseyside club decided to keep Alisson this summer, despite it appearing he was heading to Turin a year before his contract expired.

With Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah leaving, and Ibrahima Konate potentially following them out the door, it made no sense to let Alisson go.

This decision has prompted the Bianconeri to turn to the Liverpool number two.

Mamardashvili joined the club last summer. However, he has also not kicked on in England, and Juventus are considering taking him on loan.

Alisson is staying and will likely keep the starting berth. Mamardashvili is a ‘superb‘ goalkeeper on his day and will want regular game time.

Liverpool must resist offers for their goalkeepers

A loan move for Mamardashvili makes little sense for Liverpool at this stage.

Allowing Mamardashvili to leave temporarily would only weaken their depth in one of the most crucial positions on the pitch.

Liverpool signed the Georgian as part of their long-term succession planning, and one difficult season adapting to English football should not suddenly alter that strategy.

Goalkeepers often require patience and do not hit their prime until late in their 20s or early in their 30s.

With a packed schedule across multiple competitions, injuries and rotation are inevitable.

Liverpool should keep Alisson and Mamardashvili at Anfield.

If the club truly believes Mamardashvili can eventually become their number one, now is the time to develop him rather than ship him out on loan.
