Ten days into his tenure, new Juventus CEO Giovanni Carnevali hasn’t accelerated for any particular center-forward. The talks for Alexander Sorloth, who seemed to be the choice before Damien Comolli’s ousting, have cooled off. There has been some progress concerning Dusan Vlahovic and Randal Kolo Muani.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Bianconeri haven’t shut the door on the former, but they won’t improve their offer much. At most, they’ll restructure the bonuses, its length, or agree to a low release clause. The fact that the Serb hasn’t received proposals for top clubs works in their favor. Besiktas, which are helmed by his former Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano, are trying to lure him with rich sums, though.
Randal Kolo Muani has unanimous support among the Juventus decision-makers, but he’s not cheap. PSG are asking for about €35/40M. He might wait for them before going elsewhere, like he did last summer. The Bianconeri will try to obtain better conditions, perhaps through a loan with an obligation to buy. Atletico Madrid want €30M or so for Sorloth, but their valuation is lower. They’ll sign two high-profile center-forwards only if Jonathan David departs.
Per TuttoSport, the Old Lady is also evaluating fallback options, such as Omar Marmoush, who didn’t break through at Manchester City, and Ricardo Pepi, who scored 19 goals at PSV last season.
Perhaps Carnevali will click with the Vlahovic camp, but a U-turn is possible only if there’s a change of heart from the counterparty. They shouldn’t drag that negotiation on for much longer. It wouldn’t be a great look if they didn’t land either him or Kolo Muani. Signing both would be ideal, but that’s an expensive challenge.
