Juventus suffer worst home loss since 1967

Not since the 1967-68 season have Juventus lost 4-0 at home. The last time that happened came 58 years ago in a 4-0 defeat by local rivals Torino on October 22, 1967.

Sunday night was only the fourth time ever that Juventus have lost by four goals at home. As well as Atalanta and the Torino loss in 1967, there was also a 0-4 loss against Fiorentina in October 1955 and a 0-4 loss against Pro Patria in July 1948.

Only four times previously have Juventus conceded more than four goals at home: There were 2-6 losses against Vicenza and Triestina in 1943 and 1940 respectively, and 1-7 defeats by Milan and Pro Vercelli in 1950 and 1922 respectively.

Sunday’s 0-4 loss against Atalanta was Juve’s worst result in any competition since the 5-1 defeat by Napoli at the Stadio Maradona in the second half of their title-winning campaign in 2022-23.

Juventus have only lost by four goals – home or away – three times in the 21st century – Against Atalanta on Sunday, against Napoli in 2023 and a 4-0 loss against Roma in the second half of the 2003-04 Serie A season.
