Juventus and Pisa go head-to-head in Serie A on Saturday at the Allianz Stadium in Torino. Luciano Spalletti’s team are targeting European qualification, while promoted Pisa arrives in Turin fighting to climb out of the relegation zone.
Team selection will again be influenced by injuries in attack, with Dusan Vlahovic, Arkadiusz Milik and full-back Emil Holm all listed as unavailable for Juventus due to injury issues ahead of this fixture.
While Vlahovic and Milik are still not ready, the good news is that both of them are back in training and nearing a return to full fitness.
The injury issues place extra responsibility on the likes of Kenan Yildiz and Chico Conceicao in the final third, with Yildiz having scored in the 2-0 win at Pisa in December’s reverse league meeting.
Upfront, either Jonathan David or Lois Openda will start in the striking position. Manuel Locatelli is set to start after coming back from suspension with Teun Koopmeiners the one to make way for him.
Head coach Oscar Hiljemark must contend with several absentees of his own, with goalkeeper Simone Scuffet, Daniel Denoon and Isak Vural all listed as unavailable through injury ahead of the trip to the Allianz Stadium.
Adrian Semper is back in training and might start this match in goal leaving Nicolas on the bench.
Arturo Calabresi and Felipe Loyola are both doubtful for this match as well and any decision involving them will most likely be made at the last moment.
Juventus’ recent league form shows four matches without a win, with two defeats followed by two draws, leaving them clinging to a European spot and under growing scrutiny from supporters.
The 3-3 draw at Roma offered some encouragement, as Juventus showed character to fight back, but it also underlined ongoing defensive vulnerabilities that have cost them points in tight games. They sit in sixth position in the table with 47 points from 27 matches.
Pisa arrived in Turin in dire form, having failed to win a Serie A match since early November and taking only a handful of points over the winter period, a sequence that has left them entrenched in the bottom two. They haven’t won in their last 16 matches and are currently sitting at 19th position in the table with just 15 points from 27 matches.
Juventus: Perin; Kalulu, Bremer, Kelly; McKennie, Thuram, Locatelli, Cambiaso; Conceicao, Yildiz; David
Pisa: Semper; Canestrelli, Caracciolo, Bozhinov; Toure, Loyola, Aebischer, Marin, Angori; Moreo, Durosinmi
