FC Bayern’s spectacular 4:5 win at Paris Saint-Germain is still reverberating – and is now also attracting criticism. Club legend Oliver Kahn is impressed by Munich’s attacking power, but warns of the risks of this style of play
The former Bayern keeper went into raptures over the current attacking line-up, with the 56-year-old particularly impressed by the interplay between Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Díaz
„It’s almost intoxicating in attack. They probably have the best attack at the moment with those three up front. They always have the conviction that they can score a goal at any time,“ explained Kahn in an interview with Sky
In fact, recent games have backed up this assessment, be it the 4-3 comeback in Mainz after trailing 3-0 or the wild exchange of blows in Paris – Bayern always look capable of turning games around in attack

But according to Kahn, it is precisely this mental strength that also harbours a great danger. The former world-class goalkeeper sees the balance of the game becoming increasingly out of kilter
„This conviction must not lead to you losing your balance at some point,“ he warned clearly. In recent weeks, he said, you could see exactly this tendency: „That you had the feeling of total superiority.“
His conclusion is clear – and is also a clear warning to the team and coaching team: „The question is whether you can win the big title like that. It’s not about always scoring one more goal than your opponent, because at some point that won’t work anymore.“
For Kahn, the path to the Champions League triumph is clearly defined. In addition to offensive dominance, control and defensive stability are needed above all
„Winning a major title is ultimately about dominance – yes, but I want to have a certain balance in my game and always feel in control,“ said the former manager
This requirement is likely to be crucial, especially in view of the second leg against PSG in the Allianz Arena. Munich must win – but at the same time get a better grip on the Parisians‘ counter-attacking strength.
