Real Madrid made it two wins from two in this season’s Champions League with a convincing victory over Kairat Almaty. Here’s how their players fared in Kazakhstan.
Very good performance from Real Madrid’s number one, as he made several saves on top of providing the assist for Kylian Mbappe’s second goal.
Didn’t have too much to do, but still looked rather uncomfortable out of position.
Rock solid display from Huijsen, who bounced back from the Madrid derby disappointment, where he was way below his best.
Looked shaly at times on his return to the starting line-up.
Involved a lot throughout the 90 minutes.
Struggled to get control of the midfield early on, but got better as the game went on.
Good enough performance from Ceballos in a rare start.
Cut a frustrated figure on several occasions, but he did win the penalty that allowed Real Madrid to take the lead.
Involved a lot, albeit without too much success – but he did get the assist for Mbappe’s third.
Not at his best, but still a constant danger for the Kairat deserve. Should have got an assist of his own, but for Mbappe missing a guilt-edged chance.
Another three goals to add to his collection, in what was a typical Mbappe performance. Should have scored more, but he won’t care too much as he walks away with the match ball.

Excellent cameo from Rodrygo, who got one assist and almost had another. Very dangerous on the left flank, and his confidence will be done the world of good with that.
Got a goal deep into stoppage time.
Excellent header for his first goal of the season, in what was a cultured cameo.
Involved a lot during his short time on the pitch.
Assisted the late goal for Brahim.
