Chiefs boosted for CAF tie

Kaizer Chiefs have received a massive injury boost ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup group stage opener against Al Masry SC at New Suez Stadium on Sunday.
The Soweto giants have been drawn in Group D against two-time Confed Cup winners Zamalek SC and Zesco United of Zambia, in addition to last season's quarterfinalists.
This comes after Chiefs beat Angolan outfit Kabuscorp SCP in the first preliminary round and DR Congo's AS Simba in the last qualification round.
Interestingly, this is the Glamour Boys' maiden participation in Confederation Cup group stages and their first CAF inter-club campaign since losing the Champions League final to Al Ahly in 2021.
Now, Amakhosi have been boosted by the return of long-term absentee Given Msimango, who travelled with the squad after a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury.
The former TS Galaxy captain was last in action during the Nedbank Cup semi-final win over Mamelodi Sundowns last season.
Msimango will be itching to make his first appearance of the 2025/26 campaign but he faces stern competition from Inacio Miguel, Zitha Kwinika and Aden McCarthy in the heart of defense.
