Kaizer Chiefs defender Zitha Kwinika has weighed in on the Soweto giants' perceived underdog tag ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup clash against Egyptian heavyweights Zamalek SC on Saturday.

The Glamour Boys will host the White Knights in a high stakes tie at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, with kickoff for the eagerly awaited encounter scheduled for 15h00.

Heading into the match, Chiefs sit in third after falling to Egyptian side Al Masry in their curtain raiser, while Zamalek lead the pack in Group D following a win over Zesco United on the opening day.

With the Cairo juggernauts having lifted the Confed Cup on two occasions, in contrast to Chiefs' maiden participation this season, Kwinika embraces the underdog status given to his team.

“We can take that [underdog tag], but at the end of the day we are also Kaizer Chiefs, it's a big team as Zamalek. We will give them the respect they deserve but at the end of the day we will have to do that job we need to do in the game and we are up for it,” he said.

Meanwhile, with back-to-back matches against Egyptian opposition, the Chiefs academy product says lessons were taken against Al Masry and is braced for the same dark arts from the North Africans.

“I think it's probably the same type of play, so I think last week we saw how they [Egyptian teams] play. More or less the same thing in terms of what they do best - the delaying tactics. So, I think we learned that and we are ready for the upcoming one,” Kwinika added.

Chiefs will be itching to get off the mark in a bid to strengthen their hopes of reaching the knockout stages as Zamalek will, on the other hand, be aiming to consolidate their position at the summit.
