West Ham United have completed the signing of London City Lionesses midfielder Katie Zelem on loan until the end of the season.
The former Manchester United captain joined London City after a spell with NWSL side Angel City. However, since arriving back to the WSL Zelem has found regular game time hard to come by starting just in just two of her eight league appearances this season.
"I’m so excited to be joining West Ham United," the 30-year-old said on her arrival at the club.
"I’m a technical player who loves to get on the ball and make things happen. I want to be successful here and use my experience to help the team as much as possible. I know that there’s a great group of girls in the building and we have a solid foundation to build on for the rest of the season.
"I’ve also worked with Rita before at Juventus so she was a big factor in me joining the Club. I like her style of play and what she’s trying to build here. We have always had a good relationship and it’s really nice to be reunited.
"I’m a huge football fan so I’m aware of the Club’s rich history. I can feel the positive energy already and I’m looking forward to getting started."
Zelem could potentially make her West Ham debut this Sunday when they travel to face Leicester City.
