The goalkeeper Scott Carson joined Manchester City after turning 30, having had a long career in English football, with stints at Liverpool—playing in the 2004-2005 Champions League victory—Aston Villa, and West Brom.

He drew attention by playing only two matches for City over six seasons, totaling 107 minutes. He won 11 titles during this period.

He announced his retirement from football this Thursday (23), at the age of 40.

Ending a career that began in 2003 with Leeds, the club where he turned professional.

Carson joined Liverpool in January 2005. He played only nine games, but one of them was as a starter in the Champions League quarter-finals, which the Reds won in the "Miracle of Istanbul" against Milan.

He then went on a series of loans, playing for Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton, and Aston Villa.

He permanently joined West Bromwich for the 2008/2009 season. He gained experience in the Turkish league by playing for Bursaspor before returning to England to sign with Wigan in 2013.

He also spent four seasons with Derby County before initially joining Manchester City on loan.

He played his only game as a starter in the victory over Newcastle by 4-3 on May 14, 2021.
