Ketlen has taken her son on an away trip for the first time, travelling to Belo Horizonte as Santos face América-MG on Friday in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
The club’s record scorer made the journey on Thursday, with kick-off at 19:00 Brasília time in the 13th round. According to Globo.com, it is her first trip with the team since Lucca’s birth in November.
She said she was thrilled to receive CBF clearance to return to the travel routine with him, noting that nights away from her son are still difficult. Having been with him every day since birth, she called it a rare opportunity to enjoy moments together and welcomed being among the pioneers.
Her son’s presence reflects new CBF, Confederação Brasileira de Futebol, measures in the women’s game. From this season, the federation’s regulations ensure travel costs are covered for breastfeeding player-mothers, who are entitled to flights, accommodation and a companion to care for the baby while they fulfil club duties.
Santos president Marcelo Teixeira said the moment highlights the club’s leadership in women’s football and its duty of care. He described Ketlen’s return to travel with her child as an important step that shows motherhood and career can align when clubs and governing bodies work together, adding the club is proud to be part of it.
On the pitch, Santos are 12th on 14 points, six behind Internacional in eighth, the final qualifying place for the knockout stage.
