Kimmich, Musiala and Undav reflect on 'deserved' Ecuador defeat

Germany's Group E campaign ended with defeat to Ecuador in New Jersey, captain Joshua Kimmich voicing frustration over costly errors.

According to BuLi News, Kimmich said in the mixed zone, "We started the game well, but then gave the ball away too often and made the opponent strong as a result".

"In the second half, it was a deserved loss in the end. Now we can't afford another defeat," he added.

Deniz Undav reflected that Ecuador wanted it more, saying Germany must give everything in such games, that their moves were not working and the opposition played at full intensity throughout.

Jamal Musiala felt Ecuador were hungrier and aggressive across the match, and looked ahead to the decisive phase, saying they must win their next matches with the Round of 32 in mind.
