Real Madrid have made Jürgen Klopp their leading target for next season, and he is said to want Enzo Fernández signed this summer as part of any agreement. Teamtalk reports that Klopp will only continue talks if Madrid commit to investing in the Chelsea midfielder, formerly of Benfica.
Klopp is understood to see Fernández as a difference-maker for his style, making the Argentina international a priority for the project. To satisfy that demand, president Florentino Pérez would need to reach an agreement with Chelsea.
In February, Marca reported that any deal is constrained by the 25-year-old’s market value. Transfermarkt has put a potential transaction at about €140 million, after Chelsea paid €121 million to Benfica in January 2023.
This season, Fernández is valued at €90 million and has already made 42 appearances for Chelsea. That includes 28 in the Premier League, eight in the Champions League, four in the League Cup and two in the FA Cup.
Across 3,331 minutes, he has registered 11 goals and five assists.
