Klopp reveals Manchester United approached him

Jürgen Klopp, currently the sporting director of the Red Bull group, has revealed that Manchester United tried to hire him back in 2013.

Speaking on the Diary of a CEO podcast, the German coach explained that the English club reached out to him the year Sir Alex Ferguson left, while he was still at Dortmund:

United tried, but the timing wasn't right. I had a contract with Dortmund and I wasn't going to leave. There were ideas discussed in those talks that just didn't suit me.

Klopp ultimately chose Liverpool, where he went on to win the Premier League and the Champions League, instead of joining Manchester United.
