Despite showing impressive form of late, Maximilian Beier missed out on Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany squad this month.
For Borussia Dortmund coach Niko Kovač, the decision is difficult to understand.

“Personally, I would have brought him along, but I am not the national team coach,” Kovač told reporters after Borussia Dortmund’s 3–2 win over Hamburger SV at the weekend.
“I think there are many, many reasons [to call him up]. Far more reasons than not to. But the national team coach makes the decision.”
Beier, who has previously featured seven times for Germany, most recently won two penalties against Hamburger SV.
“His performances speak for themselves,” Kovač said, adding:
“But I believe he will go to the World Cup. Because you need his qualities at a World Cup."
