The international break has been far from straightforward for Real Madrid, with three very important players having now fallen foul to injury. Dean Huijsen was forced to withdrawn from the Spain squad earlier in the week, and two of his teammates will also be returning ahead of schedule.
During last weekend’s victory over Villarreal, Kylian Mbappe and Franco Mastantuono picked up injuries, although they were deemed minor enough for them to join up with France and Argentina respectively. In the case of the former, it was decided that he was able to play against Azerbaijan on Friday, but during that match, he sustained a blow to his ankle.

As such, it has been decided that he will now return to Real Madrid, as confirmed by the France Football Federation in an official statement.
“Victim of a blow to the right ankle, Kylian Mbappé was forced off before the end of the match against Azerbaijan (3-0), Friday night in Paris, at the Parc des Princes.
“On the return of the French delegation to Clairefontaine (Yvelines), the captain of the France team spoke with Didier Deschamps. He will not be able to play on Monday, October 13 in Reykjavik against Iceland.”
Fortunately for Real Madrid, Diario AS say that Mbappe’s issue is minor, although more medical tests will be needed to determine the full extent of the injury. As things stand, he could be available for next weekend’s trip to Getafe, but it cannot be said for certain.
As for Mastantuono, he failed to overcome the overload he suffered against Villarreal, as per Diario AS. He will also be returning to the Spanish capital, although it is expected that he will be fine to face Getafe at the Coliseum, although Xabi Alonso could choose to take caution with his situation.
