Kylian Mbappé marked his 19th World Cup appearance against Paraguay on Saturday in the last 16, drawing level with Antoine Griezmann to become France’s second most-capped player at the tournament.
According to L'Équipe, the Real Madrid forward, formerly of Monaco and PSG, moved past Raphaël Varane and Olivier Giroud, both on 18 World Cup matches.
He is now behind only Hugo Lloris on 20. Mbappé could match Lloris if France reach the quarter-finals and he plays, and could surpass him should France make the semi-finals and he features.
The France captain also earned his 103rd cap, drawing level with his manager Didier Deschamps in ninth place on the all-time list.
Next target is Patrick Vieira on 107, while the overall France record remains Lloris with 145 caps.
