After a dicey start to his career at Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappe appears to have finally established himself at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The forward has started 2025 with a bang, notably scoring eight goals in eight matches in all competitions. He has scored in every game he has taken part of this year, across all the competitions Real Madrid are participating this season.

This has greatly aided Mbappe’s season tally, which currently stands at 22 goals – making him the undisputed top scorer at Real Madrid.

The Portuguese international had scored 33 goals in his debut season with Los Blancos. Mbappe already has 22 goals with a chunk of the season still left to be played.

At this stage of the campaign, Ronaldo had scored 15 goals in 16 matches as opposed to Mbappe’s 22 goals in 33 matches.

If Mbappe can keep up his current form and avoids any injury, the Frenchman will easily overtake Ronaldo’s first season tally at the Bernabeu.

What’s more is that Mbappe has already bagged two trophies with Real Madrid – the UEFA Super Cup – in his very first game for Los Blancos, followed up by the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.

To put things into perspective, Ronaldo had to wait 82 matches before lifting his first trophy for Real Madrid.

That being said, context becomes very important here as Ronaldo was far more influential and key to the Real Madrid setup than Mbappe is right now.

Keeping that in mind, one must not only consider the numbers when comparing Mbappe and Ronaldo’s first seasons at Madrid.

Its what transpires in the coming months that will decide whether or not the Frenchman has truly outperformed his idol.
