Kylian Mbappé ‘struggling mentally’ following his trip to Sweden | OneFootball

According to L’Équipe, sources close to Real Madrid have described Kylian Mbappé (25) as someone who is ‘struggling mentally’ following his controversial trip to Sweden during the October international break.

Reports in Sweden linked the France captain with a rape case that happened in the hotel on the night Mbappé was staying in Stockholm. Swedish prosecutors have refused to mention the name of the former Paris Saint-Germain attacker in relation to the case. The 25-year-old has denied any involvement with the case and insinuated that his former club were involved in the media speculation before a hearing that ruled the Ligue 1 champions owed their former player €55m.

A difficult start in Madrid

In addition to the aftermath of his controversial visit to Scandinavia, Mbappé has also had a difficult start to life in the Spanish capital. Great criticism has been levelled at the Frenchman, with the Champions League winners looking disjointed in attack and increasingly vulnerable in defence since he arrived at the Santiago Benabèu. Despite a difficult start, the France international remains happy in Madrid.
