According to L'Équipe, Kylian Mbappé is progressing quickly through rehabilitation but will miss at least Real Madrid’s next two matches after a left knee ligament injury.

The France forward has a lesion of the external lateral ligament in his left knee. He will not feature against Manchester City on Wednesday at 21:00 in the Champions League round of 16 first leg, and will also be unavailable for Saturday’s La Liga game against Elche at 21:00.

It was said the club’s leading scorer is feeling much better after a very positive week, with daily improvement and hope of a return soon. After five days in Paris consulting knee specialists, he has returned to Madrid and resumed running.

Healing appears to be quick, however no risks will be taken. Some at the club would like him available for the return in Manchester next Tuesday if circumstances demand it.

If Madrid are in a favourable position to qualify, there could be a push for him to be included at least in the squad, but the final decision will rest with the player.
