Real Madrid began the Xabi Alonso era this week with a 1-1 draw against Al-Hilal without their top goalscorer of the season, Kylian Mbappe.
The French forward, who has plundered 44 goals already this term, has been down with an illness throughout the week.
In fact, the 26-year-old also needed to be hospitalised briefly due to acute gastroenteritis, although he was discharged late last night.
Now, providing an update on Mbappe’s condition, journalist Arancha Rodriguez reports that the Real Madrid superstar is ‘gradually improving’.
Indeed, the former PSG attacker has started to do aerobic exercises at the team’s hotel which is a step in the right direction.

However, the France captain did not travel with the rest of the team for the training session today and as such is unlikely to be available for Sunday’s game against Pachuca.
But given that Mbappe has started doing exercises, Real Madrid will hope to have him back training fully next week so that he can be ready for their final Group H game of the FIFA Club World Cup against RB Salzburg.
Mbappe has enjoyed a fruitful debut campaign at Real Madrid even though the team missed out on major trophies.
The French international won the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup while also claiming the Pichichi Trophy for the top goalscorer in La Liga and the European Golden Boot.
The attacker would have hoped to carry his good form forward at the Club World Cup and hit the 50-goal mark for the season, but has been hampered by the illness.
