We've got some July 4th MLS fixtures this evening around the league. From Dallas to Los Angeles, here is what happened on this rare Friday of fixtures.
Scorers: Nascimento 2', Paintsil 60', 77' (P)
Reigning MLS Cup champions LA Galaxy have been in retched form this season, but the collected their second win of the campaign in surprisingly emphatic fashion over Vancouver.
After young striker Matheus Nascimento bagged a goal in the opening two minutes, a second-half brace from Joseph Painstil drove the final nails in the Whitecaps coffin.
While the two sides find themselves at opposite ends of the table, the once red-hot Whitecaps have now lost their third match in their last four in MLS.
Scorers: Navarro (P) 89' ; Joveljić 4', Thommy 53'
Sporting KC continue to creep closer to the playoff spots after beating Colorado in Commerce City Friday evening.
Goals from Dejan Joveljić and Erik Thommy were enough to make a late Rafael Navarro strike from the penalty spot redundant.
A second win in three games ensured SKC move to within three points of the playoff spots in the Western Conference.
Scorers: Farrington 73' ; Harvey 35', Markanich 58'
Minnesota United earned a massive three points in their hunt for the top of the Western Conference, holding on to win in Dallas.
The Loons took a two-goal lead deep into the game after Carlos Harvey and Anthony Markanich, but the hosts pulled one back and nearly snatched a late point when Lucho Acosta hit the cross-bar from close range.
