MIAMI – The 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup continues with LA Galaxy hosting Deportivo Toluca FC in the Second Leg of their Quarterfinals series on Wednesday at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, USA.
Toluca holds the advantage after a thrilling 4-2 win at home in the First Leg. A hat-trick from Paulinho and a goal from Nicolás Castro led the reigning Liga MX champions to victory. Gabriel Pec and Marco Reus were on target for the Galaxy.
With his three goals in the First leg, Paulinho took his tally to four this edition and became the fifth player in tournament history to score a hat-trick in the Quarterfinal stage, the first European to achieve the feat, and the first Toluca player to do so.
For Reus, the goal and assist were his first in the Champions Cup, becoming the first German player to score for the Galaxy in the competition and the seventh European to do so in the process.
Pec reached six goals this 2026 edition and continues leading the race for the Top Scorer Award. Additionally, he became the second player to score at least six goals across a span of three appearances over the last decade, joining Salomón Rondón, who achieved the feat with Pachuca in 2024.
Toluca heads to California looking to defend its advantage and snap a three-match winless streak when visiting the United States in Concacaf Champions Cup play (0-1-2). The victory for the Diablos Rojos in the First Leg marked its fifth home win in a First Leg encounter in any phase, advancing in all previous occasions.
LA Galaxy eyes a comeback to extend its unbeaten record closing Champions Cup ties at home. The MLS club is unbeaten (2-1-0) and has advanced in each of the last three series it closed at home: against Herediano in the Quarterfinals in 2013 and the Round of 16 in 2025, and against Sporting San Miguelito in Round One the current edition.
