The Spanish football authorities have come to the decision to reject the plea of Real Madrid to have their opening fixture of the 2025/26 La Liga campaign postponed.
That’s according to Cadena SER, who have on Wednesday provided an insight into the situation.
For those who may have missed it, earlier this week, Real Madrid sent a formal letter to La Liga.
As much came to request for their opening league fixture of the coming season, scheduled for August 19th against Osasuna, to be pushed back to a later date.
The new date proposed was October 29th, with Osasuna understood to have been on board with the idea.
The efforts of those in the boardroom at the Santiago Bernabéu come with Real Madrid still in the thick of things at the newly-formatted Club World Cup.
As alluded to above, however, on Wednesday, Los Blancos’ request has been knocked back.
As per a report from Cadena SER:
“No commitment was made or accepted to modify the schedule due to the Club World Cup.”
