La Liga round-up: Julian Alvarez inspires Atletico Madrid to victory as Real Sociedad get first win | OneFootball

Three more matches were played across Spain on Wednesday as MD6 of the 2025-26 La Liga season continued on. Atletico Madrid, Rayo Vallecano, Real Sociedad, Mallorca, Getafe and Alaves were all in action, and here’s how they got on.

Julian Alvarez nets hat-trick as Atletico Madrid secure victory

Atletico Madrid 3-2 Rayo Vallecano

Atletico Madrid have picked up their second win of the season following a pulsating affair at the RiyadhAir Metropolitano. They took the lead early on courtesy of a Julian Alvarez volley, before Rayo Vallecano equalised in spectacular fashion as Pep Chavarria struck an unstoppable effort from 35 yards.

Alvaro Garcia put Rayo ahead late in the second half, but two goals from Alvarez, who continued to be linked with a move away, completed his hat-trick, and also ensured that Atleti would be keeping the three points. With that result, they move up to eighth, while the visitors remain in 14th.

Real Sociedad stop the rot with victory over Mallorca

Real Sociedad 1-0 Mallorca

Real Sociedad have finally picked up their first win of the season, as they saw off Mallorca at the Reale Arena. The hosts squandered two big chances in the opening 45 minutes courtesy of Jon Aramburu and Ander Barrenetxea, but they struck the only goal of the goal in the second period as Mikel Oyarzabal found the back of the net.

The result takes La Real up to 16th, as they move out of the relegation zone – where Mallorca remain in 19th.

Honours even at the Coliseum as Getafe and Alaves draw

Getafe 1-1 Alaves

Getafe and Alaves played out a competitive draw at the Coliseum, with both goals coming in eight second half minutes. Mauro Arambarri had gives the hosts the lead after the ball broke his way inside the penalty area, before Ander Guevara struck the equaliser from a corner kick to ensure a share of the spoils.

Getafe rise to sixth with that result, with Alaves in 10th as they collected an important point at a tricky away venue.
