In a fresh update shared by Josep Pedrerol on El Chiringuito TV, it has been revealed that Nico Williams collected all his belongings from Athletic Club’s training centre on Thursday.

This significant move comes as his potential transfer to Barcelona edges closer, despite growing pressure from Bayern Munich, who are unwilling to give up on signing the talented winger.

Nico has already reached a full agreement with Barcelona over a long-term deal. The contract will run until 2031, spanning six years, with the player set to earn €7–8 million net per season.

While Bayern are offering a more lucrative salary, Nico’s priority remains clear that he only wants to join Barcelona.

Barça committed to signing Nico

Although there is clear agreement between the player and the club, Barcelona still need to activate his €58 million release clause, which rises to around €62 million with the consumer price index (IPC) adjustment.

Athletic Club have remained firm and will not accept anything less, nor are they open to flexible payment terms for Barcelona, something they are reportedly willing to offer Bayern.

To meet this financial requirement, Barcelona will need to sell at least one player. The operation is not expected to be completed before June 30, as the club intends to account for the transfer in the next financial year.

However, the Catalans are working on closing the deal by mid-July, allowing Nico to start pre-season alongside his new teammates.

Nico wants Barcelona

Nico, who starred for Spain at the Euros, is eager to reunite with his national teammates like Pedri, Lamine Yamal, and Ferran Torres at the club level.

His agent, Felix Tainta has been in constant contact with the Blaugrana board, including during a recent meeting in Ibiza, and has reiterated the player’s desire to join Barça.

Despite Bayern’s continued interest and financial muscle, Nico’s will is firm that he wants to wear the Blaugrana shirt and be part of Hansi Flick’s project.

The signs now point to a deal being completed in early July, making his arrival one of the most anticipated moves of the summer.
