LaLiga shuffle sees matchday 33 before 32, Villarreal face 11-day gap and three-day turnaround | OneFootball

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, LaLiga has set kick-off times for matchdays 32 and 33, with 33 played before 32 after the Copa del Rey was moved to 18 April at La Cartuja, Atlético Madrid v Real Sociedad. The reshuffle leaves Villarreal with a long hiatus and a tight turnaround.

Villarreal resume after the international break at Girona on Monday, then visit Athletic Club at San Mamés on Sunday at 21.00.

After those fixtures, there is an 11-day gap before the trip to the Carlos Tartiere to face an Oviedo side practically doomed to LaLiga Hypermotion. The midweek round places Villarreal in the last slot, Thursday 23 April at 21.30, with a return to Vila-real in the early hours.

Only three days later, they host Celta de Vigo at La Cerámica on Sunday 26 April at 21.00. It will be their first home match in more than a month, the last coming on 23 March against Real Sociedad.

One potential upside, if Celta reach the Europa League semi-finals, they would arrive four days before a hypothetical tie and could rest players. For now, Villarreal’s immediate task is Girona on Monday.
