Barcelona star Lamine Yamal on Wednesday secured for himself a fresh piece of European football history.
This came owing to his exploits in the Blaugrana’s Champions League meeting with Club Brugge.
Hansi Flick’s troops marked their return to action on the continent yesterday evening, making the trip to Belgium to face off with the aforementioned Brugge.
Youngster Lamine for his part featured from the off in the fixture, from his customary berth on the right flank.
And en route to a disappointing eventual 3-3 draw for the visitors, the Spanish international proved himself by some way Barca’s standout performer.
Lamine drew the La Liga champions level at 2-2 during the 2nd-half, courtesy of a moment of trademark individual brilliance.
And in the process, the attacker joined Real Madrid counterpart Kylian Mbappé in the history books.
As per a report from statisticians Opta:
‘Lamine Yamal has now been directly involved in 13 goals in the UEFA Champions League (seven goals, six assists); the joint-most by a player aged 18 or under in the competition’s history (also 13 for Kylian Mbappé).’
