PSG earned a thrilling 2-1 win over FC Barcelona on Wednesday night at Montjuïc Stadium. Barcelona struck first when Ferran Torres found the net in the 19th minute, giving the hosts the early momentum and plenty of confidence.

However, PSG responded before halftime. In the 38th minute, Senny Mayulu calmly finished a pass from Nuno Mendes to level the score and quiet the home crowd. From there, both sides created chances, but neither could pull ahead as the tension built.

The Parisians found the breakthrough when it looked like the match was headed for a draw. In the 90th minute, Gonçalo Ramos converted an Achraf Hakimi assist to seal the dramatic victory and secure all three points.

Mendes turned in a standout performance that earned him man of the match honors. The recognition made perfect sense for former French footballer Vincent Guerin, as he credited the Portuguese defender as the driving force behind Paris’ victory.

“It was Nuno Mendes who sparked the fightback with his exceptional run on that goal. That’s exactly the kind of burst you need against a team like Barcelona, who defend very high,” Guerin said in an interview with L’Équipe (h/t Le10Sport). “As soon as you get past one or two players, you can really hurt them. It was a move of real class, and it came at just the right moment, right before halftime.

“If Paris had gone into the break trailing, we probably wouldn’t have seen the same second half. On top of that, just like he did with Portugal in the Nations League final against Spain (2-2, 5-3 on penalties, June 8), Nuno Mendes once again handled Lamine Yamal perfectly.”
