With less than a day to go until the derby between Espanyol and FC Barcelona, there is a sense of growing tension off the pitch leading up to the game.
Espanyol approach the game in excellent form against the league leaders and reigning champions, with the added emotional factor of the recent departure of Joan Garcia to Barcelona.
In this scenario, their forward Pere Milla further fueled tensions with his comments during his appearance on the comedy programme titled Perico Que Vola.
During the show, a member of the audience asked the Espanyol forward who he would rather “step on” between Joan Garcia and Lamine Yamal.
“I think Lamine,” he said, jokingly, after a brief pause, with his response being met with laughter and applause.
Lamine Yamal has now decided to further intensify the build-up leading up to the derby, through a post on social media, which can be seen as a pointed response to Milla.

Lamine posted two Instagram stories referring to last season’s derby at the RCDE Stadium. In the first, a photo celebrating a goal alongside Alejandro Balde, with his back to the Espanyol stands and his arms open.
In the second, the same celebration, this time facing forward. The text accompanying the images was brief and direct: “Ganas de volver” (eager to return), alongside emojis in Barcelona’s colours, one laughing emoji and a foot. A symbol that was far from coincidental.
Moreover, the song Lamine used in his story, “Pisada na Cabeca,” roughly translates to “Stomp on the head.”
It is clear that Milla’s comments caught the attention of the Barcelona winger, who has then moved to remind him how things went last time the Blaugrana visited the RCDE stadium.
