Frank Lampard says he hopes to have Bobby Thomas back for Coventry City’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
The defender missed Coventry’s goalless draw with Hull City on Monday but Lampard says it is not because of any serious issue.
“Bobby had a bit of a knock on his shin and overall fatigue so he was struggling to recover in the turnaround,” Lampard said. “But he will be okay, there’s no issue.”
However, Brandon Thomas-Asante remains a doubt for the weekend having also missed the draw with Hull.
“Brandon has a small hamstring and with a player like him you’ve got to be really careful.
“We’ll do some testing through the week in terms of pushing him to the max and then if he comes through that he’ll be involved on Saturday.”
Coventry sit 12 points clear of third place Middlesbrough with just five games remaining of the season, as Lampard’s side close in on promotion to the Premier League.
“When you play 46 games a season, you’re not going to get it all your own way,” Lampard said, reflecting on the draw with Hull. “It’s not always easy to come away like this and create and, if you don’t, you keep a clean sheet. That’s why I’m happy.
“It wasn’t an easy game. Sometimes you’ve got to deal with difficult, slightly messy games and they won’t always come back to you nicely. Some of that, I think, was because of the pitch but they were a dangerous team so at half-time it was just trying to manage it and also just boost the lads.”
