Millwall beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 at Hillsborough, climbing from fifth to third in the Championship thanks to substitute Macaulay Langstaff's winner.
In the 60th minute Jamal Lowe tapped in to put The Owls ahead. After a double change, Cole McGhee put through his own net (72.) before Macaulay Langstaff swept in Femi Azeez's cross (74.).
Murphy Mahoney kept The Owls competitive with five saves, denying Josh Coburn from close range before the break and again after it. The Lions' pressure told as they mounted wave after wave of crosses.
After that switch, the Lions carried greater threat down the right, with Azeez repeatedly supplying dangerous deliveries for Langstaff and company.
Mihailo Ivanović struck the bar from point-blank range (81.) as the visitors threatened a third in the closing stages.
The Lions registered 19 attempts and 11 corners, with 67.1% possession. The Owls struggled for territory at 32.9%.
The Owls have now lost five league games on the bounce. Next they visit Sheffield United. The Lions host Portsmouth next.
